First Short-term Cyber Security Training Cohort Kicks Off at DCC
Thanks to an $850,000 grant awarded by the United States Department of Labor, the Danville Community College (DCC) kicked off the DCC Cyber Security Short-term Training Initiative on Monday, August 28th, 2023 with an inaugural cohort of 17 participants.

Early College Program Numbers More Than Triple at DCC
Danville Community College (DCC) launched its inaugural Early College Program cohort, in partnership with Danville Public Schools (DPS), in August 2022 with 20 students enrolled. Now, a year later, DCC has seen its enrollment in the Early College Program more than triple with 73 high school juniors and seniors who began college classes on campus on August 21.
National Student Clearinghouse Confirms Student Personal Identification Information Was Not Compromised in Cybersecurity Incident
The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) notified the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) that no student personal identification information has been compromised in the nationwide cybersecurity incident. The (VCCS) has been working closely with the NSC regarding the nationwide cyberattack involving a third-party file transfer software tool called MOVEit Transfer. DCC Launches Literacy Project at Chamber Morning Brew Event
On Tuesday, July 25th, Danville Community College (DCC) hosted a Danville/Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce ‘Morning Brew’ event at Links Coffeehouse to publicly launch a new literacy project that delivers an important message – that obstacles can be overcome with perseverance and grit – in the form of a children’s book, ‘Ace the Mighty Conquers Knight School’.
VCCS Board Vice Chair Visits Danville Community College
On June 26, Danville Community College (DCC) had the privilege of hosting Ms. Terri Thompson, Vice Chair of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) State Board. Ms. Thompson's visit was a testament to DCC's commitment to providing quality education and strengthening community partnerships. Throughout her visit, she engaged in a series of events that highlighted the college's achievements and its dedication to in-demand educational programs.

On Monday, June 26, Mr. Carlyle Wimbish, Danville Community College Advisory Board member and past board chair, received a touching, heartfelt surprise from his two sons, Randy and Robert, with a little help from the Danville Community College Educational Foundation.
