Danville Community College Provides Relief Funding to Students

Danville Community College (DCC) distributed funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to eligible students last week.

More than $750,00 has been distributed to more than 850 students. Each eligible student received $900 from the CARES act to meet any need they may have, from food and housing, to healthcare and transportation.

“Our students’ well-being and their ability to meet their most basic needs is critical at this time,” said Jacqueline Gill Powell, president of Danville Community College. “We are pleased to be a conduit for financial assistance for our students and to support them during this uncertain time.”

As part of the CARES act, the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provided $6 billion to higher-education institutions across the United State. These funds were distributed as emergency student financial aid due to adverse impact related to COVID-19.
