Hybrid Course - Web course with four class meetings throughout the semester

1 cr.) This course focuses on the techniques and skills necessary to develop an electronic portfolio that will be posted to the Internet and burned on a CD . This portfolio can be used to promote the skills and talents of current students or graduates when applying for a job. The course will focus on the technology used to create the electronic portfolio the basic development of content for the project. Starting in 2016 students will also create a LinkedIn page in an effort to better market their skills to potential employees and make business connections that would lead to advancement in their careers.
 

This course teaches the basics of web page design. Portfolios can benefit students in any curriculum.. Students interested in this course should be comfortable using a computer and have experience using the Internet.

Techniques you will learn in this class:

  • Basic web page design.
  • Upload pages to the Internet.
  • Using a scanner.
  • Using a digital camera.

Your portfolio will include:

  • Name, address, phone number, e-mail address
  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Thumbnail images that hyperlinks to a larger image
  • Scanned images
  • Screen captured images
  • Voice messages and sound file
  • Movies

Check out portfolios from former students. Many of these portfolios are works in progress and will be complete when the student graduates.
